1. Who We Are

Walkable Labs Limited ("Walkable", "we", "us", or "our") is a company incorporated in Ireland (Company Number 800749), with its registered office at Venture Hub, 136 Capel Street, Dublin 1, D01 T2C9.

We operate the Walkable mobile application, the Walkable Creator Suite web platform, and associated services (collectively the "Services"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal data when you use our Services.

2. Data We Collect

2.1 Information you provide directly

  • Account data — email address and password when you register as a creator.
  • Creator profile — display name, biography, home city, profile photo, and a short description of why you create tours.
  • Tour content — tour titles, descriptions, cover images, GPS stop coordinates, audio recordings, pricing, and genre information that you upload to the Creator Suite.
  • Waitlist sign-ups — email address submitted via our creator waitlist form.
  • Communications — any messages or support requests you send to us.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Device & usage data — device type, operating system, app version, pages visited, and features used.
  • Location data — approximate location when you use the app to follow a tour (only while a tour is active and with your permission).
  • Log data — IP address, browser type, and timestamps of requests to our servers.

2.3 Information from third parties

  • Authentication — we use Firebase Authentication (Google) to verify your identity. Firebase may share basic sign-in metadata with us.
  • Cover image suggestions — if you do not upload a cover image, our server may automatically fetch a relevant image from Unsplash on your behalf.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account and creator profile.
  • Publish, host, and deliver audio tours to users of the Walkable app.
  • Process payments and attribute tour revenue to creators.
  • Communicate with you about your account, tours, and our Services (including early-access invitations for waitlist members).
  • Improve, personalise, and secure our Services.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

For users in the European Economic Area, our legal bases are:

  • Contract — processing necessary to provide the Services you have signed up for.
  • Legitimate interests — improving our Services, preventing fraud, and ensuring platform security.
  • Consent — sending marketing emails (you may withdraw consent at any time).
  • Legal obligation — complying with applicable law.

5. Audio Recordings & Tour Content

Audio files you upload remain your intellectual property. By uploading content to Walkable, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host, distribute, and stream that content to users who purchase your tour. We do not sell your content to third parties.

If you delete a tour, the associated audio files will be removed from our storage within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal or financial record-keeping purposes.

6. Sharing Your Data

We do not sell your personal data. We may share it with:

  • Service providers — cloud hosting, file storage, payment processors, and analytics tools acting on our behalf under data processing agreements.
  • Firebase / Google — for authentication and crash reporting.
  • Unsplash — image metadata is sent when auto-fetching cover images (no personal data is shared).
  • Law enforcement — where required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Walkable, our users, or others.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account and content data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 90 days, except where we are required by law to retain it (e.g. financial records for 7 years under Irish law).

8. Your Rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erase your data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Restrict or object to certain types of processing.
  • Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time where consent is the legal basis.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@walkable.app. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Cookies

Our web platform uses essential cookies to maintain your login session. We do not currently use advertising or tracking cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but this may affect your ability to log in to the Creator Suite.

10. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including HTTPS encryption in transit, secure cloud storage, and Firebase Authentication for credential management. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Children's Privacy

Our Services are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where the changes are material, notify you by email or in-app notice.
